Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Non-Medical Transportation Support Specialist to join our team in supporting the VA Surgical Transportation Team. This role involves providing safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services to veterans requiring surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional care to our veterans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport veterans to and from surgical procedures, follow-up appointments, and other medical-related visits.
  • Assist veterans with mobility challenges, including helping them in and out of vehicles and ensuring they are comfortably seated.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the VA surgical team to coordinate transportation schedules and any special requirements.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and the general public.
  • Provide compassionate and respectful service, addressing any concerns or needs the veterans may have during transportation.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including pick-up and drop-off times, mileage, and any incidents that occur during transport.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient information.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in medical transportation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in medical transportation is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in medical transportation or a related field is highly desirable.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Physical ability to assist veterans with mobility challenges and operate vehicle equipment as needed.
  • Fingerprint and Background check by the VA

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist veterans with mobility challenges, including transferring them in and out of vehicles.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on transportation needs.
