The Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is a fully integrated, on-campus, accredited college health center that provides a wide range of medical and mental health services. The mission of the HCC is to enhance overall student well-being and success through inclusive physical and mental healthcare, prevention, education, advocacy, and recovery support services. Most shifts are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional shifts from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The work environment is a busy out-patient office setting, which features a fast pace, frequent interruptions, daily contact with the public, and requires self-motivation. The environment involves balancing a variety of priorities and responding quickly to emerging problems. Office and patient care environments include: exposure to blood, body fluids and hazardous waste other than blood and body fluids; occasional exposure to toxins, and poisonous substances; occasional exposure to hazardous materials such as chemicals and liquid nitrogen; occasional exposure to dust, loud, unpleasant noises and combative situations; frequent exposure to communicable disease including COVID-19.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) position at the University of Denver Health and Counseling Center (HCC) is a 0.75 FTE fully benefited position. This role is responsible for three to four 8 hour shifts per week (Monday-Friday). This role's responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, CLIA waived laboratory testing, assisting providers with procedures/exams/treatments, and various other duties as assigned. Most shifts are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional shifts from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The well-qualified candidate should have completed training and be certified as a medical assistant, or have equivalent work experience. They should have at least 1 year of clinical MA experience, and be able to establish empathic connections with DU students while adhering to established DU and HCC policies and protocols. They should be familiar with and passionate about the medical needs of college students. They should be comfortable incorporating the values of inclusive excellence and multicultural humility into their daily work.
