Urban Peak Maintenance Technician in Denver, Colorado

Under the supervision of the Asset Manager the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance duties, maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of Urban Peak properties, and performing those duties described below.

This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Who You Are:

2 to 5 years' experience in general maintenance, High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required. Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required. Experience with basic plumbing and electrical repairs. Experience working with at-risk populations preferred. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage day-to-day schedule independently. Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care and positive youth development. Reliable transportation that can haul tools, equipment, and inventory (required). Must have and maintain operation of a smart phone that supports necessary applications and maintain a phone service to respond to emergency calls, emails, and maintenance requests. Related experience includes commercial cleaning, painting, and landscaping. Must be able to work independently and uphold quality control standards as determined by Urban Peak Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak's auto liability policy. Ability to pass both federal and state background check and a pre-employment TB screening.

What You Will Do:

Perform minor repairs, including plumbing and electrical. Perform minor preventive maintenance. Order vendor services as needed. Complete preparation of residential units for new occupants Order and oversee vendor services related to turnovers. Work with Property Manager for unit turnover timing and priority. Trash pickup around exterior of properties. Graffiti removal. Sidewalk pressure washing and sanitation. Light landscaping maintenance Light snow/ice removal and ice melt distribution Other exterior duties and projects as needed or assigned. During normal working hours, address last-minute property sanitation and cleaning needs including but not limited to large spills, floods, post-construction clean up. Other duties as assigned.

What We Offer:

Salary: $29.33/hr. Who We Are:

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more.
