David Evans And Associates Environmental Permitting Planner in Denver, Colorado

DEA is hiring an Environmental Permitting Planner specializing in renewable energy projects. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and obtaining necessary permits for the development and operation of renewable energy initiatives in Colorado. The position will sit in our transportation business unit and work on transportation NEPA documentation, but the primary focus will be to coordinate permitting work with our geomatics and energy business units and their clients.You will collaborate with project teams, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to lead the permitting process and support the successful implementation of renewable energy and transportation projects. Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about federal, state, and local environmental regulations related to renewable energy projects in Colorado and neighboring states. Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to renewable energy and transportation project activities. Permitting Process: Develop and implement permitting strategies for renewable energy projects. Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies. Coordinate with agencies, consultants, and stakeholders to facilitate the permitting process for renewable energy and transportation projects. Environmental Documentation: Conduct environmental impact assessments to identify potential project impacts. Propose mitigation measures to minimize environmental effects. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to address concerns and build positive relationships. Communicate project details and environmental compliance to relevant parties. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of permits, correspondence, and regulatory submissions. Prepare regular reports on permitting status and environmental compliance. Project Support: Collaborate with client, project managers, engineers, and other team members to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and des Provide guidance on environmentally responsible practices.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of permitting and environmental evaluation experience related to renewable energy projects. Knowledge of Colorado environmental regulations and permitting processes. Experience in permitting for renewable energy projects is highly desirable, with experience in NEPA analysis and documentation for transportation projects is a secondary focus. Ability to serve as technical lead for resource-specific studies and documentation relative to hazardous materials, noise, air quality, or other environmental resource. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Experience with FERC requirements is preferred.
