Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Mid-level Environmental Engineer in Denver Colorado to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The preferred candidates will have field experience working at Superfund and other contaminated sites, leading preparation of planning documents and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. The preferred candidate will have experience with evaluating remedial alternatives and engineering design of remedial approaches for contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater.

• Create engineering designs for environmental remediation projects to meet client project requirements, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.

• Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on completed designs. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.

• Planning, directing, and performing surface and subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field data collection to support environmental and water supply projects.

• Reviewing draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

• Working on a variety of assignments, which may include, field studies, research investigations, feasibility studies, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation.

• Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.

• Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.

• Submitting technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

• Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.

• Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.

• Learning project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.

• Managing tasks on large projects or phases of small projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer). 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience preparing planning documents, procuring and coordinating with subcontractors, and directing junior staff for field programs at contaminated sites

• Proven experience in data evaluation and report preparation for environmental assessment, remediation, field investigations, construction oversight activities.

• Previous task management or project management experience desired.

Skills and Abilities:

Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Pay Range Minimum:

$87,310

Pay Range Maximum:

$139,682

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
