Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Staff Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at the Continental Division office. The Medical Staff Coordinator is accountable for complete file review for all credentialing instances from physicians and advanced practice professionals (APPs) that are released from the Credentials Processing Center (CPC). Review all information received and verify completeness and accuracy on content in accordance with policies and procedures. Informs the practitioner of the application status, including the need for additional information. Recognizes, investigates, and validates discrepancies and adverse information obtained from the application, verification process, or other sources. Compiles, evaluates, and presents the practitioner-specific data collected for review by one or more decision-making bodies. This position ensures regulatory compliance and compliance with HCA/CPC policies. This includes interaction with the CPC, Division Leadership, hospital departments, outside facilities, administration, and physicians/APPs including medical staff leadership. Other duties may include: Provider action forms, case logs, building new and/or updating existing providers in eSAF, Meditech, HealthStream; maintaining the credentialing database, and coordination with the appropriate facilities for credentialing items.

· Policies & Procedures – articulates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and systems

· PC Skills – demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word) applications, Visual Cactus, and others as required

· Medical staff services technical skills – extensive knowledge of credentialing, privileging, peer review, and all other aspects of medical staff services

What qualifications you will need:

  • NAMSS or CAMSS membership preferred. Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred

  • High School graduate or GED required. Associate’s Degree or, an equivalent combination of training and experience required.

  • One to three years of in medical staff services or credentialing/privileging services.
