Amazon Cloud Intelligence Senior Solution Architect Manager in Denver, Colorado

Come join a team of cloud experts focused on uncovering and articulating advantages for AWS Customers! The Sales Cycle Acceleration (SCA) team, which includes Cloud Intelligence (CI), is looking for a Senior Manager to manage a team of CI experts aligned to sales teams across the western/central United States.

Your responsibilities will include managing a team of field-facing SMEs and removing barriers to adoption of the AWS computing platform within multiple industries across the western/central United States. Your team will teach and evangelize differentiation concepts with AWS field sales teams, customers, and with cross-functional marketing, enablement, and product teams. As a strategic partner to sales and external customers, you will identify emerging signals and best practices, to serve the broader organization. This position has the opportunity to influence AWS’s sales and go-to-market strategies, as well as AWS product and development roadmaps.

This position blends business and technology skillsets. You and your team will drive complex engagements and interact with executive audiences. They also have technical competence that enables them to analyze AWS and competitor products. Candidates must have the capability to craft and convey compelling value propositions, and to communicate concepts and stories effectively.

We are looking for experience in one or more of the following: market or competitive intelligence, business value engineering, sales enablement, and customer-facing technology sales experience. The ability to successfully differentiate cloud services in competitive market segments is key.

Key job responsibilities

• As a key member of the Solutions Architect team, ensure success in building and maintaining solutions and tactics that help customers choose AWS from a technical perspective.

• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

• Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices

• Build deep relationships with decision makers within customer accounts to enable them to be “Cloud advocates”

• Share customer feedback to internal product management and engineering teams to help drive the future of AWS

• Develop and deploy sales motions and programs that leverage AWS Field Sales teams, as well as technology and consulting partner channels.

• Collaborate with the Service and Technical teams to create solutions that solve customer problems, including reference architectures, patterns, automation, release plan, etc.

• Collaborate with Marketing to develop and align digital marketing campaigns to drive awareness and demand.

• Technical Thought Leadership

• Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects from internal and external sources

• Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud

• Coach Solutions Architects in the skills needed to conduct training sessions for new and existing customers

• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

• Work with the team to organize technical workshops and facilitate the sharing of knowledge across teams

• Strategy & Innovation: articulate business/industry fundamentals (e.g., ROI, CBA, TCO); understand regulations and operational excellence; familiarity with business strategy and trends in the IT industry (e.g., CI/CD, IoT, Predictive Analytics

• Technology Breadth: demonstrate architectural best practices applied across a breadth of technologies to solve organizational problems, articulate views/roadmaps for future development, and understand the interaction between infrastructure, operations, and development

• Interface with internal leadership and external customers at the executive CxO level

• Closely collaborate with executive stakeholders across the organization, including service teams, Business Development, Marketing, Professional Services, Training, and Operations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or 10+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

  • 10+ years of technical design/implementation/consulting experience

  • 7+ years of experience in senior technical positions within the technical sales space, and enterprise solution selling experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing technology teams

  • Experience with on-premises to cloud migrations, IT transformation, information security and risk management for enterprise customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

  • A Master’s Degree in computer science, MIS, engineering or equivalent technical degree

  • Experience successfully partnering with and communicating effectively to C-suite Executives on long term, highly strategic programs

  • Large-scale systems integration involving on-premises technology and public cloud platforms with experience architecting and deploying production cloud workloads on AWS

  • Enterprise Architecture experience, certifications, and building modern cloud strategies

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations

  • Experience leading architecture for multi-tower global customer transformations in areas such as mainframe, SAP, and Microsoft Azure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $312,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
