As the University's largest and most varied academic unit, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is comprised of artists, learners, performers, scholars, scientists, and teachers across 21+ departments, programs, schools, and centers and acts as a central hub where many of the University's disciplines intersect. Nearly all 6,000 undergraduates at the University take liberal arts courses with us, and about one-third of these students declare a first major in a CAHSS program. Half of our departments, programs and schools offer master's or doctoral programs. CAHSS scholars, artists, instructors, staff, and students collaborate in a shared quest for knowledge about the human condition and the development of skills to improve our local and global communities. The diverse scope of CAHSS allows our students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed at nearly any career in today's global society.

Position Summary

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) seeks temporary staff support for business and operations functions. Positions will be non-benefitted and part time- not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year. Support will entail departmental management of day to day transactions, budgets, and balances, accounts receivable/payable, hiring support, and other duties. These positions will provide operations support within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) for a variety of business functions and general office support.

Schedules are flexible at approximately 15-30 hours per week, in-person on the University of Denver's main campus.

These are non-benefited, part-time positions not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Input day-to-day transactional entries in Banner.
  • Assists with requisitions, purchase order updates, vendor registration and invoicing, and direct pays under appropriate budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage budgets related to materials, supplies, and facilities for departments within CAHSS.
  • Manage communications, templates, and tracking for internal business and operations processes.
  • Assist with fund management for a variety of award, gift, and endowed funds, as well as deployed annual budget from the university.
  • Serve as a liaison for travel booking & approval, purchase card processing, expenditure tracking and submission within monthly closure deadline
  • Assist with a wide range of human resources processes, including hiring and onboarding of benefitted & non benefitted staff, adjuncts and temp positions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills/ability to work well with multiple populations
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and independent judgement
  • Mathematical/account skills or background for budgetary management
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft office suite Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience, training, or education in office management, administrative suppor , accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience in an office support setting
  • Experience with accounting/bookkeeping/budget management Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, office management, or similar

  • Experience in higher education
  • Familiarity with Banner, Concur, Slate, or similar academic management software
  • Experience with event planning/coordination Application Deadline
