JBS USA AUTOMATION/TECHNOLOGY ENGINEER in Denver, Colorado

We are building our team and looking for an experienced Automation Engineer for our new manufacturing plant in Denver, CO (Commerce City area) who will help us create the best plant-based protein company in the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee installation of plant production equipment.

  • Assist the equipment vendor during installation process to gain insights, ensure all relevant information regarding the automation is obtained

  • Responsible for plant automated production equipment and reliability, including functioning as the main contact for maintenance questions and assistance

  • Develop SOP’s for operators to use to perform controls on the equipment

  • Train maintenance personnel on the maintenance of the automated equipment

  • Work with safety manager to integrate automation into the safety protocols

  • Train operators on functionality of automation to ensure business production goals are met

  • Scale checks to ensure product weight scales are within weight calibration specifications, preventative maintenance on scales, printers and alarms to ensure they are in working order and do not cause downtime, reactive maintenance on automated systems and instrumentation (basic troubleshooting, changing parts, follow-up to ensure problem is resolved & basic modifications to equipment to improve performance)

  • Work with maintenance personnel on reactive maintenance calls to gain familiarity and troubleshooting techniques for the automated equipment at the facility

  • Oversee automation projects assigned by the Planterra corporate Engineer

  • Ensure timely startup of the facility’s automated and robotic equipment

  • Determine and designate equipment-specific job assignments that team members will rotate through once they are trained on each piece of equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+years’ experience in equivalent industry & engineering job

  • Self-starter, quick learner with the ability to adapt and solve problems

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent engineering work experience

  • Experience with automated equipment and conveyors

  • Experience with Programming and troubleshooting using Allen Bradley PLC’s, HMIs

  • Experience with Ethernet protocol

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Bizerba, Rieser, Buhler, JBT, Provisur systems

  • Food industry experience preferred

  • Familiarity with spiral freezers, frying systems, extrusion, baggers, weighers, and food processing equipment

  • Ability to build, modify, program, Allen Bradley control systems

  • Appropriate mechanical ability to complement the controls background

  • Salary: $75,000-100,000
