Requisition Summary
Seeking an energetic, independent engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks. Primary responsibility will be planning, executing, and reporting on vehicle performance tests through the position of a Vehicle Performance Test Engineer in the Vehicle Performance group.
The Vehicle Performance Test Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of test activities, including planning and execution, analysis and reporting, equipment maintenance and calibration, and work area organization. The focus will be on the Vehicle Performance Properties of Fuel Economy, NVH, and Ride. Responsibilities will also include general test activities such as temperature measurements, displacement measurements, CANbus data logging, and Noise Compliance testing.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
Develop and execute test plans based on internal requests
Identify, locate, and acquire necessary test equipment
Design, develop, maintain, and/or calibrate test equipment to support testing needs
Maintain organization and cleanliness of test equipment storage and work area
Identify and acquire tools and other accessories necessary to maintain equipment
Instrument and de-instrument test articles, collect and analyze data, generate reports, present findings, and maintain an archive of results
Lead and/or participate in the planning, execution, data analysis, etc. of off-site test activities
Support testing activities lead by others as necessary
Conduct in-depth data analysis to reveal root causes and present findings to management and others to initiate changes for improvement
Conduct research, concept development, and evaluations incidental to Vehicle Performance Properties
Conduct Vehicle Performance Property testing and data analysis to establish performance targets
Support and/or lead other activities as requested and/or necessary
Up to 10% travel to customer sites to collect data and resolve performance concerns may be required
Qualifications and Skills
BS in Engineering or related field required
Previous testing experience required
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Proficient and/or experienced in conducting data analysis and generating graphs/charts preferred
Previous test equipment development, maintenance, and calibration experience preferred
Experience managing multiple projects preferred
Experience presenting to Sr. Management and leading others through non-direct reporting roles preferred
Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) or strong desire to obtain required
Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems preferred
Experience utilizing PTC Creo as a design tool preferre d
