Caroline County Commissioners Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Denton, Maryland

  • Substance Abuse Test: Must pass a pre-employment urinalysis test for designated controlled dangerous substances.
  • Criminal Background Check: Must pass a Criminal Background Check as defined in Chapter 1 of the Caroline County Personnel Rules and Regulations.
  • Essential Functions: Must be able to execute the "Essential Functions" listed in this Class Specification at the time of hire and while employed in this class series, unless a request for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act is received and granted.
  • Driving Record: May have no more than four (4) points on driving record at the time of hire and while employed in this class series.
  • Personnel Rules and Regulations: Must comply with the terms of the Caroline County Personnel Rules and Regulations, including the Substance Abuse Policy, while employed in this class series.

[[DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW: Department of Emergency Services [[The Department of Emergency Services is committed to providing high quality Emergency Communications, Hazard Planning, Risk Management and Emergency Medical Services to the residents, governmental departments, agencies and visitors of Caroline County. Our responsibilities include: [[Advanced Emergency Medical Services to the citizens and visitors [[Emergency planning and coordination for County government [[Emergency Communications, including 911 [[Police communications for the Sheriffs Office and four town police departments [[Fire and Rescue communications for nine volunteer Fire / EMS departments

[DEFINITION: [This is skilled specialized work as a Maryland Certified Emergency Medical Technician. A self- motivated, responsible person with administrative duties. Under some supervision carries out duties without detailed instructions but within specific limits and reports to Emergency Medical Services Supervisor. Performance will be evaluated periodically based on previously agreed upon goals. [This position isNon-Exemptand eligible for overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). [This position has been determined to be essential, thus is subject to recall during emergency conditions.
