Under the direction of the Laboratory Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating personnel, equipment, resources and testing procedures within the lab. Assists with daily operations, monitors performance of personnel and assists with preparing performance appraisals. Supervises training and educational programs to include regulatory compliance with CAP and Joint commission standards. Required to update all procedures as regulations are updated, complete competency assessments, reviews proficiency testing, and participates in data entry for PT results. Researches and provides technical support to Physicians for guidance on laboratory testing instruments and evaluates new technology, also may be assigned additional duties as determined.

Qualifications

BS Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or science related field. Masters preferred. Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) certification is required, or currently working on your MLS to be completed within 48 months of hire.

Six years of MLT experience, with 3 of those years in a lab supervisory position

Must be a graduate from approved program in Medical Technology field; registration as MT or MLT, ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist), or equivalent, such as AMT or CLS.

Good verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer skills. Possess the ability to problem solve and think critically. Customer service focused.
