Stetson University People Operations Employment Specialist AS6495 in DeLand, Florida
The People Operations Employment Specialist supports the success of the university by managing and enhancing the employment experience of students, faculty, and camp staff. As manager of the Student Employment Program, the incumbent will lead, manage, and advance the Student Employment Program to accomplish student engagement, career development, experiential learning, and institutional function. This position will also partner with the Office of the Provost and other departments to provide a seamless and people-centered experience for candidates, faculty members, and camp staff by processing personnel actions and focusing on process improvement. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
Administer student, faculty, and camp staff employment processes
Strategically manage the function of the Student Employment Program in budgeting, position development, paperwork processing, and compliance
Utilize NACE Career Readiness Competencies to further develop student employment positions into high-impact experiential learning opportunities
Manage, support, and develop student employees working for the People Operations and Student Employment functions
Ensure compliance with the Federal Work Study Program, state, and federal laws
Collaborate with university-partners to streamline and create people-centered experiences
Promote a diverse and inclusive hiring process while mitigating bias in the search process
Assist employees and their supervisors through appropriate international hiring processes
Process all faculty, camp, and student employment transactions such as new hires, employment changes, and terminations to ensure compliance with University policies
Establish, organize, enter data, and maintain an electronic filing system which includes confidential materials and employment files
Collaborate with the payroll department for timely and accurate payroll processing
Report new hire I-9 form information to E-Verify and the State of Florida New Hire Reporting Center
Interface with the public and employees of Stetson to provide general assistance and support with other People Operations/HR functional areas as needed
Support the University’s Mission and Values (https://www.stetson.edu/other/about/mission-and-values.php) in their role
Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and support needed in a student-focused and relationship-rich higher education environment
Knowledge of relevant employment laws, regulations, and university policies
Familiarity with career development principles and practices to support student employees’ professional growth
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, faculty, and staff
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment where deadlines, detail, adaptability, and accuracy are essential
Ability to lead and manage processes and people effectively, fostering a positive and productive work environment
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues
Sound judgment and discretion is necessary in this highly confidential position

Required Experience
A bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of human resources staffing experience, student services, or a combination of degree, human resources experience, and office experience
Proficient user of technology applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience with social media platforms for hiring initiatives and employment branding
Desire to professionally learn and grow
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Experience working in an institution of higher education
A master’s degree
Experience supporting applicants and employees through complex processes
Experience in recognizing and mitigating bias and/or inequity in employment processes
A professional working proficiency in Spanish
Experience using Banner/Ellucian or similar ERP
Work Environment: Routinely work in an office setting during normal hours of operation for university offices.
