Summary :
Vighter is recruiting multiple Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to provide patient care, medical service and medical support within the Customs and Border Protection – Immigration and Customs Enforcement mission, with dozens of locations across the United States’ Southern borders, to include California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida. The LVNs and LPNs will be working alongside uniformed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents/ Officers in secured federal facilities along the southwest border of the United States. They will provide basic assessment and medical treatment for persons in CBP custody to include emergency care as needed. The LVN or LPN will also be responsible for ensuring patient comfort, explaining procedures, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with all law, statue and healthcare regulations. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all recognized national standards.
Principle Accountabilities:
Performs vital signs electronically and manually, as indicated.
Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis, adheres to universal precautions, and takes appropriate infection control precautions.
Completes all annual trainings as required, or any additional training as assigned.
Communicates an end of shift report to the oncoming shift.
Participates in Medical Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities and initiatives as needed.
Provides emergency care to employees or visitors for life, death, loss of sight/limb situations Emergency Medical Services arrives.
Performs direct that may include:
a. Assisting with feeding or meal set-up.
b. Oral care, nail care, washing hair and basic hygiene.
c. Bathing and/or dressing ; toileting or changing disposable diapers/briefs.
e. Ambulation and transfer assistance in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and or showers, etc.
f. Changing and collecting linens.
Consults with/or works under the direct supervision of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for complex medical, pediatric, or psychiatric patients, completes orders recommended/authorized by the physician or APP.
Performs history and physical assessment, behavioral health care support, minor outpatient procedures, patient education, and refers any care beyond the scope of the medical unit to offsite facilities.
Practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and guidelines, skill in collecting a variety of samples, performs quality control of laboratory reagents, and performs CLIA waived testing as needed, following up with any abnormal findings.
Maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply.
Ability to properly use equipment and supplies in simple diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Works within the Scope of Practice, facility Standing Orders/Standing Operating Procedures and protocols.
Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy of medical records, complies with HIPAA regulations, performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management.
Utilizes the electronic medical record for all patient care documentation and must maintain an “active status” for use and complete all required trainings as required.
Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody.
Attends all general staff meetings during duty hours and participates with medical quality management initiatives and reviews as applicable.
Restocks medical units with forms, supplies, or equipment, and helps with maintaining stock supplies.
Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.

Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Provide training and support to remote employees on timekeeping systems and processes, including troubleshooting issues and providing guidance on using timekeeping tools effectively.
Stay informed about changes in timekeeping technology, regulations, and best practices, and make recommendations for updates and improvements to timekeeping processes.

Knowledge and Skills :
Must have exceptional customer service skills.
Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
Education :
Successful completion of a certification program for LVNs or LPNs located in the state of employment.
Program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of one year of clinical experience in direct patient care as a licensed practical or vocational nurse.
Experience in detention or correctional healthcare, residential healthcare, a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided direct care.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
Generally speaking, locations supporting the CBP-ICE mission set are open and active 24/7/365, to include days, nights, weekends and all holidays.

Travel:
As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Generally, travel is limited to commute from residence to the worksite. Commute is non-compensatory. All official travel is government-funded.

Physical Requirements :
