RIO GRANDE COUNTY HR Detention/Dispatch Corporal in Del Norte, Colorado

JOB TITLE: Detention/Dispatch Corporal

MUSTS: Must have one year experience in a jail system requiring daily supervision of inmates. Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Colorado Driver's License upon employment. Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of operations and information obtained during the course of duties. Must have current first aid/CPR certification or obtain it within 3 months of hire. Must have the ability to read and comprehend technical procedures as well as ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information to a group of managers and answer questions from the general public. Must have the ability to add, subtract, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals as well as to compute, rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must have the ability to multitask and must pass an extensive background check.

SKILLS: Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED, preferably a College degree in related field of study and/or experience. Knowledge of basic arrest control and prefer if have a Colorado Post certification and Firearms qualification/certification. Bilingual skills are preferred, but are not mandatory.

DUTIES: Performs inmate supervisory work in jail detention areas. Work leader for jail detention/dispatch staff. Acts in limited supervisory capacity for jail detention/dispatch staff as needed. Coordinates inmate activities including court appearances and cell assignments according to classification. Assists the Detention/Dispatch Sergeant in all areas as direct

Responsible for daily operation and security of the Rio Grande County Jail and dispatch.

Monitors inventory and supplies within the facility.

Ensures functionality of equipment and computer systems

Responsible for training staff members to be proficient in the use of all equipment and programs.

Obtains DNA samples from subjects as ordered by the Courts and required by law. Ensures the medical and mental health needs of the inmates are met.

Completes booking and release of inmates.

Assists the Detention/Dispatch Sergeant with filing of released inmate files. Performs court ordered and concealed carry fingerprints.

Conducts inmate transport duties when needed.

Review and approve or return reports completed by detention/dispatch staff members.

Make recommendations for improved efficiency and operations.

Skilled in dispatch duties.

Monitor camera systems within the facility as time/duties allow.

WAGES: $19.13-$19.90/hour. Depending on experience. Paid Bi-Weekly.

DURATION: This is a Full time, permanent position.

SHIFT: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The exact days and hours are to be determined by the Employer.
