ProMedica Health System CT Technologist - Radiology - Full Time - Variable in Defiance, Ohio

$5,000 Sign on Bonus for external candidates only with a one year commitment to the organization

POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of a radiologist, the CT Technologist performs various CT procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Obtains high quality scans, which are interpreted by a radiologist in the evaluation of disease or abnormality. Assists radiologists or other staff physicians in the performance of diagnostic CT procedures whenever required. Ensures decisions made are based on Family Centered Care philosophy.

ACCOUNTABILIITES

Demonstrates knowledge and skill to utilize computerized tomography equipment by selecting proper technical factors based on age, size, weight, and anatomical differences and general health status of various age groups. Critiques images for diagnostic quality. Utilizing proper radiation protection accessory devises and age appropriate immobilizers to produce high quality CT scans under the philosophy of A.L.A.R.A. Under the direction of a physician demonstrates knowledge and ability to administer and document contrast and IV contrast according to standards for patients of all ages. Maintains proficiency in venipuncture and IV contrast safety. Assists radiologist and physicians in the performance of diagnostic CT procedures with patients of all ages performing support functions. Demonstrates competency in the use of general radiographic equipment and in physical comfort measures and psychosocial issues when giving care to include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients: Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to identify educational needs, obtain patient history, and provide information in easily understood terminology with clear communication style about procedures and care to patients of various ages. Determines appropriateness of procedure based on the above. Maintains departmental equipment and facilities in a safe and clean condition. Reports equipment malfunctions. Assists in training and evaluating new CT associates and students. Demonstrates competency in the physical comfort measures and psychosocial issues when giving care to include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Demonstrates high level of care, courtesy, and cooperation. Educates patients about their procedures and ensures patients and their families’ comfort and need are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner. Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and assigned area. Follows organization’s mission and values of customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.

**This position will perform Radiology Technology duties as well

Education: Must have completed formal radiologic technology training at an AMA approved school. Skills: Must be able to cope with the stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skils. Must be competent in the use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g. EMR/PACS and fax machines). Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems. Years of Experience: NA License: Must have met ARRT registry requirements and be CT registered. If CT registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting the position; if performing in more than one modality and registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting additional responsibilities (see addendum). License by state if applicable. Certification: Must be CPR certified
