Job Summary
Responsible for writing complex proposals as well as assigning, editing and overseeing the work of writers within select lines of business and corporate entities. Supports the tactical work and strategic direction of the proposal team, including collaboration with subject matter experts to manage the flow of RFP information. Works with multiple sources and incorporates client-specific strategy into clear, compelling documents that differentiate Walgreen Co. and its entities in the Marketplace. The successful candidate will have the creativity, strategic sense and organizational skill to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Produces professional, high quality proposals through the utilization of creative writing and computerized systems. Supports the development of sales and business unit strategies by designing and developing proposals aligned with the objectives and by providing consultation on
competitive practices.
Job Responsibilities
Manages all phases of the RFP development and execution process including management allaspects of proposal preparation, revision and submission including proposal schedule, winstrategies, customer requirement analysis, competitor assessments.
Works with subject matter experts and other key professionals within the Enterprise to support thedevelopment of long-term strategy and process flow. Supports overall Company goals to growbusiness, expand services and retain key clients.
Implements the strategies developed to acquire new business (will assist in the identification ofproposal opportunities) as well as maintain existing book of business.
Oversees the assignments, edits and management of all proposals within specific corporateentities. Maintains currency of narratives and other blocks of standard information andattachments within assigned areas of focus to facilitate accuracy of responses.
Manages direct reports’ performance and advancement. Manages and trains writers and seniorwriters on new informational sources and programs; project management best practices; andother key functional areas to meet overall deadlines and duties as assigned.
Provides team leadership and resources to ensure success in meeting or exceeding businessgoals and objectives.
Directly manages complex, multi-business opportunities through subordinates or independentprojects.
Works with Knowledge Base colleagues, subject matter experts and other key contacts to maintain compliance rates of large informational database.

External Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree and at least 2 years of experience in proposal writing in healthcare or related industry or High School/GED and at least 5 years of experience in proposal writing in healthcare or related industry.
Experience in health care, business intelligence, or business development experience in aprogressively responsible development, analysis or strategic role.
Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions anddocumenting activity workflows and business requirements.
Experience communicating both verbally one-on-one/groups and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (company management).
Experience collaborating with both internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functionalteam leadership.
Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree / MBA
Intermediate- to expert-level familiarity with PMAPS/RocketDocs, Qvidian or other proposalmanagement software.
At least 1 to 2 years' formal experience with project management, including leading large editorialprocesses.
At least 1 to 2 years's formal experience as a professional writer with experience in proofreading,line and copy editing as well as all writing skill-sets (business, marketing, etc.).
Experience collaborating with internal resources to develop strategies that meet department goalswithin budget and established timelines. Can collaborate with both internal and external resourcesto develop win strategies that meet client and consultant requirements.
Experience in the pharma, retail pharmacy or managed care industries delivering businessintelligence, strategic, financial and/or ROI analysis.
