Universal Metalcraft Inc Welder Fitter in Decatur, Indiana
Will help lay-out, fit, and weld various fabricated, cast, forged, steel, aluminum and stainless steel components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, structural and piping components.
Responsibilities:
- Must be reliable and dependable
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, and rulers
- Recognize, set-up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure into position for welding
- Set up equipment and weld parts (FCAW, SMAW, GTAW)
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure with straightedges to templates to ensure conformance with specification, recommended practices, and standards
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts
- Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material
Education and Training:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 3-5 years related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience
- Strong Math skills
- Shop skills include welding and blueprint reading
- Experience with structural and pip fabrication
