This is a full-time, exempt position.

Job Summary

This multi-faceted role of Oils Technical Sales Manager will provide the candidate the ability to use and develop both traditional sales skills and technical sales support for the North American Oils Business.

The technical sales manager will support the full oils sales team in knowledge of oil ingredients and functional attributes in a wide array of application spaces. They will support all customers in communications to develop new business and manage technical challenges. The technical sales manager will have their own oils accounts that they will be responsible for managing the relationship, contracting oils sales, deliveries, and meeting sales goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Represent North American ADM Oils business to 15-20 food manufacturing accounts.

  • Contract oils sales, develop relationships at accounts, manage and resolve issues, and grow and defend business for responsible accounts.

  • Learn oil markets, trading rules, and how transportation and logistics support ADM business and customers

  • Utilize ADM systems to record and manage information accurately

  • Develop a strong working technical knowledge of ADM oil ingredients, how they are processed, and how they are utilized by customers.

  • Support full NA sales team in answering customer technical questions and providing technical support

  • Provide technical communication both written and oral to represent ADM oils in industry and to the customer

Job Requirements

  • Required travel - 10-30% domestic.

  • Base-line food ingredient and processing knowledge. Applicant does not need to be a subject matter expert in oil.

  • 5+ sales experience, technical sales preferred

  • 2+ years in the food industry

  • Strong communication skills – written and oral with an emphasis on technical communication

  • Understand and interpret technical information

  • Operate in a team environment

  • Build and present effective presentations – business and technical

  • Work in diverse environments – predominately office based but job may take candidate into ADM production and customer manufacturing environments, research labs, etc.

  • Analytical data interpretation and problem solving skills.

  • Strong math skills – both for pricing and interpreting technical data.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office programs. Experience in Salesforce a benefit.

  • Negotiation skills and the ability manage challenging conversations.

  • Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree is required with an emphasis in food science, chemistry, or science based degree.

  • 2+ years in a customer facing role.
