Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II with over 3 years of experience in CNC maintenance. The ideal candidate will be adept in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machines, with a strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machines

  • Understand and work with all mechanical and electrical components

  • Install and maintain ball screws, properly fit bearings, and set capture loads

  • Check and adjust machine tool geometry

  • Rebuild spiral and gear boxes

  • Perform test bar, draw bar, and forceguard tests

  • Utilize hand and pneumatic tools effectively

  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting from 24V to 480V

  • Read and interpret PLC Ladder Logic for troubleshooting

  • Read blueprints and understand geometric tolerances

  • Interpret CMM reports

  • Perform milling, drilling, and reaming operations

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC Maintenance Technician

  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machines

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical components

  • Experience with CNC electrical troubleshooting

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens Controls or other control systems

  • Experience with G&L or Cincinnati machines

  • Familiarity with Giddings & Lewis Boring Mills and Cincinnati Mills

  • Work in milling, drilling, and reaming

  • Ability to use hand and pneumatic tools

  • Any additional schooling or certifications would be a plus

Work Environment

The environment includes large parts and a machine shop production setting. Employees will start with Monday to Friday 8-hour shifts until the project is fully staffed, then transition to an AWS schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off). The role involves standing, walking, handling tools, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and occasionally lifting over 50 pounds. The factory environment can be loud and may expose employees to hazardous materials, greasy or slippery floors, and risk of electrical shock.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00
