Ford Motor Company Power Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

In this role, the Power Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer will work with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Digital Manufacturing Services, and Suppliers to successfully develop and launch next-generation power electronics products and processes. Successful candidates will have a proven record of working with cross functional teams, including external partners, in the development and implementation of power electronics assemblies. This role will have direct impact over the design and processing of power electronics assemblies in future Ford products.

  • Support the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production equipment related to the manufacturing of powertrain power electronics components.

  • Develop and deliver standardized processes and equipment in line with global powertrain strategies.

  • Develop and implement manufacturing process associated with power electronics manufacturing including vacuum reflow soldering, selective wave soldering and laser welding.

  • Support all test processes (e.g. leak test, in-process test, final test and software flash etc.).

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to achieve a working Product design that meets Manufacturing Design Specifications with feasible expectations in the Engineering Specification (ES).

  • Support the Prototype Engineering/Pilot Manufacturing to determine feasible manufacturing solutions and methodology during the early stages of new programs.

  • Troubleshoot production issues impacting FTT and warranty, determine corrective actions to the part, assembly processes and/or test equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process related to power electronics manufacturing and testing (soldering, welding, etc.).

  • Knowledge of electrified powertrain component function.

  • Prior experience working in ISO clean room environment manufacturing power electronics

  • Familiarization of ESD controls and measures for handling power electronics

  • Data driven mentality and decision-making process.

  • Application experience in computers and electronics.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to learn product function.

  • Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic working environment and diverse team.

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Mechanical and Controls Engineering aptitude.

  • Project management experience.
