Ford Motor Company Lincoln STA Current Model Electrical Quality Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

Lead current model quality projects (process variability reduction) for Lincoln electrical warranty issues and drive to make Lincoln a best-in-class vehicle.

Guide cross function teams using a strategically driven 6-sigma approach, to provide timely and robust resolution to high leverage, complex, current model supplier process quality concerns.

Ensure alignment with STA, PD and other Ford functions as appropriate to address technical and systemic opportunities.

Identify systemic lessons learned from project work and implement systemic improvements.

What you'll do...

  • Complete Engineering duties

  • Utilize process engineering skills to understand the electrical and mechanical actions used to create electrical parts and systems and trouble shoot problems.

  • Create or analyze electrical diagrams to help understand how systems are supposed to help diagnose problems.

  • Analyze circuit board mfg operations and find causes of failures

  • Keep abreast of technical developments and advancements in electronic manufacturing methods

  • Complete reliability engineering work with Weibull and other distributions to understand the failure rate to determine if issues are infant mortality or wear out conditions and also predict rate of future failures.

  • Use engineering skills to develop solutions to problems.

  • Learn and apply Strategic Problem Solving to use strategies to determine the physics, chemistry, electricity, etc. causing the failures and drive to resolution.

  • Use 6-Sigma skills including Measurement Systems Analysis, process capability, hypothesis tests, pairwise comparisons, Design of Experiments, Multi-vary analysis, multiple regression, reliability analysis, etc. to complete tests and analyze data.

  • Utilize the 3x5 why process to drive to systemic root cause and systemic improvements.

  • Utilize Ford’s warranty systems and other data bases to identify the biggest issues and use the data to determine contrasts to help drive problem solving process.

  • Work with suppliers to implement a warranty QOS so the proactively track their warranty, analyze returned parts, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science/ Engineering, or equivalent technical / manufacturing aptitude Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  • 2+ years of Plant Manufacturing experience

  • Knowledge of electronics and Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) manufacturing process with hands-on experience.

  • Problem Solving Skills – Black Belt or Master Black Belt and/or Strategic Problem-Solving Knowledge and/or Shainin certification.

  • Experience using Minitab

  • Strong communication and team building

  • Knowledge of vehicle or powertrain component commodities, functions, and related features.

  • Ability to speak and write in English & Spanish language fluently to effectively communicate with the global team

  • Ability to develop and present materials to senior leadership with short timelines

This position is a range of salary grades 7 and 8.
