Ford Motor Company Software Quality Process Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position…

You will have the chance to lead the definition of the embedded software development process for Vehicle Controls and implement quality checks across the entire development lifecycle. We are seeking a motivated individual who can lead and support the quality operating system to guarantee the quality and reliability of the software.

What you'll do…

The core responsibilities of the Software Quality Process Engineer include:

  • Independently collaborating with internal and external development teams to define and implement lean software development processes throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Creating and maintaining scripts to measure quality metrics, analyze risks, and drive improvements.

  • Influencing technical documentation content and guidelines to prioritize quality and ensure team deadlines are met.

  • Leading process quality improvement and efficiency initiatives.

  • Ensuring software development processes comply with industry and Ford internal standards, conducting audits and assessments as necessary.

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to advance corporate quality initiatives.

  • Coaching internal teams on quality concepts and the internal Quality Operating System.

  • Providing regular status updates to management.

The supporting responsibilities of the Software Quality Process Engineer include:

  • Developing test strategies to identify defects and uphold software quality standards.

  • Collaborating with the software team on code reviews, enhancing coding guidelines, and promoting best practices.

  • Proficiency in scripting and dashboard creation to visualize metric progress.

  • Strategic thinking abilities to foresee future trends and establish long-term plans for continuous improvement.

  • Adaptability and openness to adjust to evolving circumstances, priorities, and environments.

  • Conducting software code reviews and guiding the team to adhere to MISRA and internal coding standards.

  • Strong focus on timely delivery.

  • Proficiency in tools such as Github, Jira, Alteryx, Qlik and Python.

  • Familiarity with ISO26262, INCOSE, and MISRA standards.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • 5+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance

  • 2+ years of Automotive software development experience

  • 2+ years of experience in C/C++ and Python (ability to write scripts/dashboards)

Even better, you'll have…

  • Master’s degree in engineering, or Computer Science; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • ASPICE experience

  • Previous OEM software development experience

  • Knowledgeable of Functional Safety (ISO26262)

  • Experience with process rollout

This position is a salary grade 8.

Local candidates are preferred. Relocation is not available for this position.
