Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to develop process improvements and automation for new and existing products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifying opportunities to implement automation machinery to existing, manual assembly operations.
Drive new automation projects that meet strict production requirements.
Develop and improve assembly and test procedures alongside Mfg. Engineering and Project Engineering.
Monitor and collect process data to improve product routers and efficiency standards.
Develop performance metrics and KPIs to measure productivity, quality, and other relevant factors.
Assist with Failure Analysis to determine root cause of failures and implement corrective actions.
Train and monitor operations personnel on new processes and technology.
Perform other duties as directed by the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Education and Experience:
BS degree in Engineering – Industrial or Mechanical preferred
5-7 years of Industrial Engineering experience or equivalent:
Experience with Mechanical, Electrical and/or Optical assemblies preferred
Minimum 3 years of automation experience strongly preferred
Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Intimate familiarity with common mechanical automation components including:
Rotary and linear motion components
Servo and stepper motors
Pneumatic actuators and cylinders
Advanced understanding of part fixturing, and handling
Working knowledge of common electrical components and electrical systems
Working knowledge of software concepts including experience with PLCs
Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD, or similar drafting software.
Technical Writing Skills- ability to create clear and concise technical procedures for manufacturing processes.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal & written communication.
Possess good project management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Proficient in MSOffice programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint.
