As a Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering you will design and implement new product launches, drive best practices throughout the new product and insourcing processes, conceive, and deploy innovative manufacturing systems, and execute large-scale production start-ups. Responsibilities include overseeing project managers, process engineers, quality engineers, validation engineers, CNC programmers, and tool designers. Develop proposals to drive operational excellence, supporting budgets and project plans, as well as building a talent base that can execute on the plans.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management in the development, planning, and execution of annual business plans, short and long-term strategic plans, developing budgets, capital plans and performance goals and objectives for each department.

  • Develop and deploy manufacturing processes that set industry benchmarks for lead-time, small lot sizes, and cost.

  • Build and propose business plans for large-scale initiatives.

  • Conceive, design, develop and deploy manufacturing processes and operations that support the timely launch of new products.

  • Consistently assesses emerging trends in manufacturing, their impact on the operation, and develops mitigating or leapfrogging proposals.

  • Manage material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Capabilities

  • Uses lean principles to deliver a complete value stream look of projects with total expected and demonstrated lead time and all cycle times less than TAKT time

  • Manages direct staff, including attracting and developing talent to achieve strategic and tactical organizational needs

  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling, engineering, production, quality control, and shipping functions

  • Advanced knowledge of CNC programming, turning, milling, secondary processing, assembly, cleaning, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T

  • Budget development and management responsibilities

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent experience

  • Preferred experience leading teams in product design, manufacturing, and tool design
