LJB INC. Roadway / Civil Service Lead in Dayton, Ohio

Description LJB Engineering is a national, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with five main business lines which include: Transportation, Water Resources, Geospatial and Site Design, Buildings Structure Design and Safety/Fall Protection Design Installation. Our diverse expertise, client base, and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries. We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Roadway/Civil Service Lead position for our Transportation team at one of our Ohio or North Carolina offices. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of progressive experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently. A strong existing professional network and experience with DOT projects will assist in meeting the job requirements as a client-facing subject matter expert. Annual Compensation: $125,000-185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards. This position is also eligible for bonuses. ROADWAY / CIVIL SERVICE LEAD ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Grow the depth of LJB's roadway service line to existing clients and identify and serve new clients. * Have established working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers especially within DOTs and local governments. * Recruit, manage, and develop staff. * Manage staff workload and plan resources for project delivery across multiple geographies. * Provide quality assurance oversight on roadway design projects. * Guide project decisions regarding technical approaches, man-hours, cost, and scheduling performance. * Oversee and coordinate various aspects of projects, including design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers, to ensure successful completion on time and within budget. * Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans. * Responsible for developing and managing Best Management Standards for the Roadway discipline. * Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA, etc. * Other duties as assigned. ROADWAY / CIVIL SERVICE LEAD ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS: Education: * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required. * P.E. license required. Qualifications: * 10+ years' of progressive engineering experience possessing a broad knowledge and experience in transportation and roadway design. * Experience working with DOTs required. * Project team leadership experience. * Project and client management experience. * Strong presentation and interpersonal communications skills. * Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills required. * MicroStation, GEOPAK or OpenRoads software experience required.
