Job Summary: Under general supervision and direction, creates and develops component and product designs utilizing approved procedures. Develops and presents alternatives or recommendations relative to assigned projects. Sound knowledge of design practices and principles including engineering mathematics and computation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and scientific test methods. Working knowledge of high volume production processes, materials, tooling and equipment. Involvement in hands-on tasks with heavy construction equipment.Travel and work at customer sites. Measures of Success: Documentation of mechanical systems in the form of solid models, layouts, detailed drawings and bill of materials. Initiate documentation release and change orders. Develop and propose automated solutions including cost estimates Perform design verification testing and publish findings Participate in ongoing product improvement / cost reduction Perform system trade studies and develop product specifications Complete ongoing design and development projects, achieving team and individual objectives Complete mechanical qualification testing of products Complete production release of new product design for product introduction Complete corrective action requirements for product release Complete mechanical design reviews for product release, provide mechanical leadership Responsible for the entire project development cycle from concept phase through production support Develop risk analysis for systems requiring complete integration and part programming Provide technical support and consultation for application Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application Coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications Skills & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering, or civil engineering, or related technical field. Mechanical engineering experience. Experience with hydraulic systems is desired. Use of 3D CAD modeling packages is required. ProEngineer / Creo experience preferred. Ability to work with raw materials to create prototype designs Experience in the sheetmetal and cable assembly design desired. Experience in operating heavy machinery desired. Experience in vibration data collection and vibration data analysis desired.
