Junior Material Research Scientist Location US-OH-Beavercreek ID 2024-3379 Category Research & Development Position Type Full Time Salary Riverside Overview Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. Position Overview Riverside Research is seeking a highly motivated Junior Material Research Scientist to support designing experiments, experiment instrumentation, data collection, material synthesis, and data analysis for nanoparticle and magnetometry research efforts. Responsibilities Develop synthesis recipes for materials using high energy ball milling techniques Develop synthesis recipes for materials using wet chemistry techniques Characterize nanoparticle material properties for size, crystallinity and microwave properties Characterize static magnetic properties through vibrating sample magnetometry techniques Model physical properties of materials using COMSOL, MATLAB or density functional theory Create mathematical plots of collected data using MATLAB, Origin Pro, IgorPro and LabVIEW Collaborate with members of a diverse technical team Document results in technical reports and presentations Conduct supervised and unsupervised work Qualifications Required Qualifications: B.S or M.S in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field Some experience with material synthesis of nanoparticles Some COMSOL and programming skills Ability to setup data collection and instrumentation setups with minimal instructions Ability to execute tests, analyze data and conduct statistical analysis Ability to generate reports documenting and justifying methodology and results Desired Qualifications: Experience with any graphing software with curve fitting analysis Experience working in a research and development environment Experience working with magnetic materials Global Comp $70,000 - $80,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
