The Gleason Works Field Service - Service Engineer in Dayton, Ohio

  • Install, maintain, and repair GMS gauging equipment, predominately at customers’ sites.

  • Provide operator orientation on the equipment with the capability to fully train customers at the time of installation.

  • Perform A2LA-accredited on-site calibration services in accordance with the ISO 17025 standard and corresponding A2LA requirements.

  • Maintain/develop positive customer relationships.

  • Provide recommendations to customers about the repair/replacement of their machine and its components.

  • Promote and provide recommendations to customers about additional products/ services that are available to enhance or further their inspection capabilities.

  • Provide customer feedback (VOC) for GMS, including sales leads for equipment, software, maintenance contracts, etc.

  • Submit expense and service reports by date/time required weekly, according to established company policy.

  • Travel up to 95% of the time – both domestic and international.

  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions to service processes/ products.

  • Provide in-house technical support, training, and phone support, as required.

  • Assist in GMS production or other GMS activities, as required.

    a). KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Broad background in a variety of skills is needed. Mechanical, electrical, and computer skills are a must. The ability to be highly adaptable and flexible in dealing with the variety of different control systems and computer systems used in the GMS Product line. Ability to effectively perform time management with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate well with customers and establish good customer relationships.

    b). EXPERIENCE: A Service Engineer must have a minimum of 2 years experience both maintaining and operating similar machinery. The person in this job needs know the major components systems of like machines.

    c). EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Training as an electronics technician either in the military or vocational school or an Associates Degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. Bachelors’ Degree in similar field considered a plus. Further training in the GMS family of software and how to use it and train the customer is essential and will be provided. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for education requirements.

    d). TRAIN: A fully competent Service Engineer must possess capability to write technical reports, train and make changes to all of the machine variables including the control system and other component systems contained within the analytical and functional gage instruments. This is usually takes two years to accomplish.
