Family Resource Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Family Resource Coordinator assists elementary and middle school students in achieving academic success by addressing non-academic barriers. This role supports the launch and ongoing development of the Family Resource Center and works to provide all students with quality academic, social and emotional support. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

Identifies and works with a maximum of 25 families each academic quarter whose children have been identified (self-identified or identified by faculty or administration) as being at risk due to academic, social and emotional challenges. Assists families in developing and implementing plans that enhance the academic, social and emotional development of their students (family coaching.) Links families to critical resources.

Ensures that basic needs of families of academically, socially or emotionally challenged students are met, such as food, clothing, shelter, access to health care, etc.

Develops a comprehensive and strategic set of family support tools that addresses diverse types of issues and problems that are impeding non-academic student success.

Works closely with afterschool program staff on complementary activities that support achievement within the Neighborhood School Centers four Opportunity Areas.

Develops close working relationships with school administrators and staff, students, families, and community stakeholders.

Establishes and maintains database management system that demonstrates students and family progress toward goal achievement.

Tracks measurable outcomes and provides reports to upper management as needed.

Collects, analyzes, and reviews data, and conducts program evaluations, sharing successes, and developing continuous quality improvement efforts.

Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Certifications/Licensures:

A valid drivers license and the ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required.

LSW is preferred

Relevant certification and/or licensure is preferred; preference will be given to certified candidates.

CPR Certification is preferred.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Human Services, Social Work, Family Studies, Psychology, Education, or other related fields is required.

Graduation from a relevant Masters-level educational program is preferred.

Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

Experience and Competencies REQUIRED:

Bachelors degree plus 3 years of experience working in the human services field, OR Masters degree with one year of experience, coaching families and improving their outcomes.

Understanding of the nature of family relationships and cultural norms of Hispanic, Appalachian, and African American families.

Ability to form and maintain effective, professional, positive relationships and appropriate boundaries with families.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Must be empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, and enthusiastic (a family cheerleader).

Must have demonstrable experience in facilitating group discussions.

Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.

Adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with all MS Office applications and Outlook 360.
