Eaton’s AER MSD Mission System Division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Oxygen Systems - Relocation Assistance Offered in Davenport, IA. Relocation assistance offered!

The Mechanical Engineer will apply mechanical engineering disciplines and working knowledge to a range of research and development activities for the mechanical systems, devices, and equipment in the Life Support product lines. The selected person has the responsibility to support activities for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects involving design and development of new or improved products with limited scopes. The person may coordinate the efforts of other Engineering personnel, including designers, technical writers, and technicians in completion of specific project assignments.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Designs and develops of new life support products, processes, and technologies as well as redesigns existing products on time, within budget, and with required quality.

  • Participates in integrated product development teams; prepares design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for presentation and approval.

  • Provides help on developing project plans for development activities including defining tasks, resource requirements, design reviews, and qualification and verification plans.

  • Assists in generating project-related documentation and analysis results to ensure their completeness and quality.

  • Supports evaluation of suitability of current products for new applications; works with team to develop bids and proposals for new, modified, or upgraded products.

  • Works within team to develop predictive component and product performance models; develops plans to verify models for component and product characteristics.

  • May interface with customers as part of development programs; works closely with suppliers on component and product development.

  • Participates in ideation for new products and technologies; provides innovative ideas for improvements to existing products.

  • Provides support to manufacturing, field service engineers, and customers.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

• Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree preferred

• Prior related work/intern experience

• Knowledge of CAD software such as PROE or Solid Works.

• Knowledge of ANSYS (Mechanical, FLUENT, or Thermal).

• Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).

• Working knowledge of safety analysis and reliability analysis preferred

• DFSS experience preferred.

Skills:

• Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a rapidly changing environment a plus.

• Creativity, initiative, and self-starter desired.

• Strong communication skills with emphasis on technical writing and presentation.

• Structured and systematic problem-solving techniques desired

• Ability to demonstrate analytical problem solving.
