Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Engineering Product Development Manager (Actuation).
The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

Essential Functions
Eaton's Aerospace Group, Mission Systems Division (MSD) Orchard Park has an opening for a Product Development Engineering Manager, Actuations. The individual can be located at either the Orchard Park, NY or Davenport, Iowa facility. The Engineering Manager (EM) position has direct reporting to the Sr. Product Development Engineering Manager, Actuations Capability.
The primary function of this position is to lead the Release and Restraints, Missile Actuation, Emergency Actuation, and Joule-Thomson (JT) Cryostat Product Development Engineering Teams and deliver on New Product Development (NPD) projects in plan and as assigned. In addition, the EM will have oversight of Bid and Proposal (B&P) activity associated with these sub-capabilities.
The EM will lead, manage, and grow a cross-site team of Engineers from Orchard Park/Davenport and will be responsible for setting aligned goals, evaluation of their team members, and coaching and directing the performance of team members.
This individual will be involved in short and long-range planning, ownership, and execution of NPD aligned with the business objectives.
This is a working manager position for an experienced Project Leader.
Successful candidates will be able to independently lead an engineering team across a matrixed organization.
What you’ll do:
• Lead an engineering team to deliver high quality technical output on time. Provide project execution advice and guidance to this team; create opportunities for growth and development. Develop a culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion (grow employee satisfaction, product expertise, etc.).
• Provide leadership and management oversight of the team including priority setting, goal setting, and performance management.
• Develop engineering/technical and project skills among staff to support NPD as well as site and divisional initiatives. Maintain appropriate training programs to ensure continuous learning.
• Responsible for ensuring that appropriate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) concepts are applied consistently to each project.
• Lead NPD including coordination with cross-functional leaders, resource owners, and staff.
• Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
• Budget and manage B&P and NPD expenditures.
• Measure forecasted resource demand and take action (short and long term) to establish a team with the capacity and capability to execute effectively.
• Monitor key engineering metrics and implement improvements accordingly.
• Plan and manage new projects through the proper application of Eaton ProLaunch standard project and design processes.
• Proper application and oversight of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools usage to ensure compliance to ProLaunch requirements including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
• Promote the use of disruptive technologies that align with divisional and group strategies, such as Additive Manufacturing (AM).
• Plan and coordinate Technical Reviews with staff.
• Participate in the strategic planning process for the site; Creation of product and technology roadmaps, development of long-term investment budget, promoting strategic investment to executive leadership.
• Participate in or lead organizational transformation projects.
• Lead failure investigations and special projects as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 7 years of experience in design and development engineering
Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, leading direct or indirect reports
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Relocation is not provided. All candidates must currently reside within 75 miles of Eaton's Orchard Park, NY facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
• MS in engineering and/or business management is desirable.
• 5 years leading NPD including direct management and supervision of technical professionals.
• DFSS Greenbelt certification
• Basic understanding of corporate financial principals and terminology

• Experience leading and influencing cross-functional engineering teams.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with customers, all internal functions, and Site Leadership.
• Ability to interact with business and technology leaders.
• Successful candidate will have a demonstrated Track Record in SOME of the following criteria (proficiency in all areas NOT required):
o Experience with Eaton Mission Systems Products; Actuation Capability components and systems which include Releases and Restraints, Missile Actuation, Emergency Actuation, and Environmental sub-capability of Cryogenic Coolers (J-T Cryostats).
o Successfully guiding project leads and technical experts on the principles of Aerospace Life Cycle Management (LCM) including APQP.
o Developing and growing technical Engineers.
o Experience & identifying ideas for continuous improvement and successful deployment of new processes and tools.
