Position Summary: The Grounds Maintenance/Landscape Installer laborer performs a variety of landscaping tasks under the close supervision of a Crew Supervisor. Daily work may be performed at residential communities, commercial properties, parks, etc.. A Laborer may be “sited” responsible to maintain one location only, or may be part of a roving crew that completes work at one location then moves on to the next scheduled property. A daily work schedule is created by the Crew Supervisor and/or Branch / Account Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Cuts grass (using either a riding or push mower), maintains lawn, trims and edges around trees, walkways, flower beds, walls, and markers.

• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, and twigs and removes weeds.

• Sprays lawn, shrub, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.

• Applies mulch as needed

• Clears debris and maintains driveways and walkways in safe condition

• Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shear

• Assists with the loading and unloading of supplies, equipment and/or merchandise.

• Cleans and properly stores equipment.

• Ability to properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment.

• Must use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• May be called upon to drive a truck with equipment and crew to all the work locations.

• Install & Construction employees specialize in installing plants, flowers and bushes according to a predetermined landscape design.

• Assist with site set up of plant materials

• Keeps job site staging area clean and organized

• Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs

• Assist in keeping the job site tidy, organized and safe

• Use all installation tools according to company safety policy

• Maintains, cleans and properly stores equipment.

• Other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

• Must pass a drug and background check.

• At least 3 months of similar work experience is desirable.

• Ability to learn the proper use of new equipment.

• Must have the stamina to work well under all weather conditions and at a fast pace.

• Will work as part of a team, must be a team player.

• Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions

• Good attention to detail

• Will use shovels, blowers, mowers, electric handsaws, ladders, etc.

• Drivers must have an active drivers’ license and good driving history.

Physical Demands

• Able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds.

• Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and bend for long periods of time

• Must be able to work outdoors under all weather conditions.

• Walk, climb stairs and handle, finger, grasp & feel objects and equipment

• Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3ft)

• Reach with hands and arms

• Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions

• Repeat various motions with the arms, wrists, hands and fingers

OPERATING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Education/Training:

Must have experience using hand held tools such as weed cutter, push lawn mower, hedge trimmer, edger, leaf vacuum, etc.
