Job purpose
The job purpose is to drive business development and sales in frontier markets. This includes placing new business with existing customers through upselling and cross-selling, as well as sales prospecting. The BD Manager is dedicated to identifying and engaging potential customers, initiating contact, and building relationships through various channels to seal new deals.
Key roles and responsibilities
Lead with Engineering the BD activities within the regional Organization
Collaborate with other departments to share insights on business and customer needs, fostering a unified approach to achieving company goals.
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to place new business with existing customers, driving revenue growth through strategic upselling and cross-selling.
Conduct thorough research and qualification of leads to ensure they align with the company’s business objectives and goals.
Identify and engage with potential new customers, initiating prospecting activities to build interest and rapport.
Oversee early customer engagements, including managing the NDA process to ensure confidentiality and trust.
Develop and nurture long-term relationships with customers, ensuring sustained business partnerships.
Maintain a robust sales pipeline, actively driving business growth through effective sales strategies and execution.
Represent the company at trade shows, fairs, and exhibitions, effectively marketing and promoting products to a wider audience.
Job requirements and qualifications
Proven experience on prospecting
Proven ability to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
Strong understanding of market trends and business strategies
Exceptional negotiation skills
A customer-first mindset
Experience with complex products and products in need of explanation
Demonstrates humility and fostering a collaborative work environment
Strong drive to achieve Sales Targets
Engineer (industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or business administration with strong technical understanding (at least Bachelor degree)
5+ years of experience in commercial vehicle or automotive industry, preferable on Battery Technology
German and English fluent in spoken and written
Willingness to travel (up to 70%)
