Danville Child Development Center Assistant Group Supervisor in Danville, Pennsylvania

Assistant Group Supervisor Responsible to: Program Supervisor

Qualifications:

? High school diploma or a GED certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field; OR ? High school diploma or a GED certificate and 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and one year experience with children; OR ? High school diploma or a GED certificate and two years' experience with children. Capsule Job Description: Carry out the daily activities under the guidance and supervision of the group supervisor. Must be able to relate well with staff, children, parents, and public.

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt Salary Range: Pay Grades 5-7

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Learn, understand and cooperate with the philosophy of the program.

  2. Plan and implement a curriculum of developmentally appropriate daily activities and long term goals that follow the highest goals of early childhood education.

  3. Work toward social, nutritional, physical, emotional, language, and cognitive goals appropriate to each child's need, based upon their individual development.

  4. Tend to children's personal needs (feeding, diapering, hand and face hygiene, etc.)

  5. Detect and report children's ailments including cuts, bumps, etc.on Incident report forms. This includes mandatory reporting of any suspicious injuries or marks to a member of administration immediately.

  6. As a Mandated Reporter, all staff must report directly to Childline, any suspected abuse, and alert DCDC administrative staff person of the situation.

  7. Conduct yourself as a positive, professional role model for others working with children.

  8. Supervise and interact with children in all activity areas, inside and outside, with an appropriate sense of accountability.

  9. Responsible for direct supervision of assigned group of children and utilizing supervision cards. 1

  10. Assist children to be self-reliant and relate to others.

  11. Supervise and help direct the activities of teacher's aides, personal assistants, substitutes, volunteers, and others working with children.

  12. Participate in all of the routines of the daily program, 

  13. Maintain whatever records or reports that are necessary for the children of the program.
