Eliot Community Human Services ACCS Substance Abuse Counselor in Danvers, Massachusetts

Eliot’s Behavioral Health Division provides an integrated and comprehensive network of services to adults with psychiatric disabilities that are evidence based, provide rehabilitation & hope to those in services.

Eliot is currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor with outstanding counseling skills and experience with dual diagnosis. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and facilitating dual diagnosis groups, motivational interviewing, harm reduction techniques, 12 step programs and detoxification facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Persons are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with ECHS’ Human Rights policy. Ensure that the foundations of services encompass empowerment, choices and recovery.

  • Empower Persons to exercise control over their lives, including daily routines within their home, their treatment and leisure activities. Includes informing Persons of choices in all areas of living to promote individual control.

  • Assist Persons in being fully integrated in their communities by supporting them in the use of community resources, encouraging them in establishing memberships within their communities, and reducing stigma within the community through education.

  • Ensure Persons are free from neglect and abuse. Report all concerns/ suspicions of abuse/neglect to supervisor and the Disabled Persons Protection Commission, Executive Office of Elder Affairs or Dept. Children and Families.

  • Actively take part in supervision, staff meetings, in-services and trainings as required or determined by supervisor.

  • Ensure that services are culturally competent, strengths based, recovery based, focused on rehabilitation and are inclusive of Person preferences. Ensure that the Person is at the center of all care and that all interventions are developed and provided in a manner consistent with Person preferences, are evidenced based and utilize cultural/community resources.

  • Provide and maintain therapeutic boundaries and a professional relationship with Persons. Exercise sound judgment by providing appropriate distance and support that promotes a trusting relationship and places the wellbeing of the Person first. Ensure that emotional vulnerability of the Person is not exploited for personal or other interests and act in a manner that cannot be misconstrued by the Person. This includes but is not limited to; sexual exploitation; initiating or pursuing a relationship (friendship, sexual or otherwise); physical, verbal or emotional abuse; financial exploitation; gift giving or receiving.

Qualifications, one of the following below:

  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I)

  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (LADC II)

  • CADC I or II (Certified Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor)

    Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

    Salary:

    LDAC II, CADAC- $49,680.00LDACI- $58,680.00
