Full-time Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Opportunity –Fairfield County, Connecticut (Danbury and Norwalk)

Nuvance Health, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to join our growing Thoracic Surgery Program at Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals in Fairfield County, Connecticut. This is one of the most desirable areas of Connecticut, within an hour of New York City.

There is excellent support from the Nuvance Cancer Institute. The advanced practitioner will get to work with an outstanding multidisciplinary team and have access to the latest technologies and treatments for thoracic cancer care. The primary responsibility will be non operative care of thoracic surgery patients including in the outpatient setting, and some inpatient care on the day of discharge to facilitate continuity of care.For well trained and interested candidates, we would consider operative duties to include first assisting on surgical procedures including robotic operations.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant with at least 2-3 years of experience in thoracic surgery, surgical oncology, and/or oncology. The team is willing to train exceptional new graduates. We are seeking excellent communication, clinical and interpersonal skills to facilitate patient care between surgeons and other members of the care team. The candidate must be able to work well both with a large multidisciplinary team as well as independently. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including allowances for CMEs and dues.

Danbury Hospital is a 371 bed hospital Level II Trauma Center. Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and is also a Level II Trauma Center. As teaching hospitals, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 900+ and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.
