Description

Attention Operating Room Assistants looking for a full time evening shift role. This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants to build their career in healthcare and work 3PM - 11:30PM M - F with rotating call. This is a great next step for candidates with 6 months or more experience in housekeeping, patient transport, home health aides, or CNA's. The purpose of the Operating Room Assistant is to perform service functions that support the delivery of patient care in the Operating Room. These functions include but are not limited to: patient transportation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and operating rooms, stocking supplies and running errands. Additionally, OR Assistant's perform a surgical scrub and hold retractors during certain procedures. MUST BE ABLE TO READ, AND SPEAK ENGLISH AND HAVE A HS DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT. This is a union role with competitive pay, perks and benefits. Pay range is based on full years of experience $16 - 26.84 (i.e., 0 - 15+ years experience). Summary:

The purpose of the Operating Room Assistant is to perform service functions that support the delivery of patient care in the Operating Room. These functions include but are not limited to: patient transportation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and operating rooms, stocking supplies and running errands. Additionally, OR Assistant's perform a surgical scrub and hold retractors during certain procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Transports patients to the Operating Room.

  2. Performs room turnovers.

  3. Prepares equipment for each procedure.

  4. Assists the nurse and physician with patient positioning & lifting.

  5. Delivers specimens to the lab, runs errands to pharmacy, medical records, ASU, patient units, etc.

  6. Orders X-rays and nourishments daily.

  7. Maintains clean and unobstructed hallways & scrub rooms.

  8. Operates operating room based sterilization equipment (i.e., steris, autoclaves).

  9. Stocks all non-specialty areas including prep carts, scrub rooms, warmers, linen carts, holding area, turnover supplies, PPE storage, etc.

  10. Performs a surgical hand scrub, maintains a sterile field & holds retractors on selected surgical procedures.

  11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
