Reference #: 85347-362984 GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: To procure all materials and services used in the manufacture of Gichner Shelter Systems product. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Negotiating/Pricing Solicits price quotations of goods and services for both bids and buys. Negotiates pricing and delivery to specific budgets and terms. Purchasing Prepares and places purchase orders and follows-up to ensure timely delivery to meet demand for products. Reviews and analyzes requirements to maintain inventory control and achieve lowest total cost. Monitors Small and Disadvantaged Business Goals to achieve targets. Maintains Part Master database. Investigates and resolves discrepant receipts and invoices. Vendor Management Researches and interviews potential suppliers. Monitors price and lead-time trends. Supplier Relations (partnerships, forecasts, e-signals, consignment arrangements, etc.) Selects and approves new suppliers (approved supplier list.) Processes returns and rejections and monitors supplier corrective action as required. Interface with other organizations Quote support to sales. Representative for Job kickoff meetings as required. Other Job Functions Other duties may be assigned. May participate in giving guidance and work direction to lower-level buyers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards. Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors. Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary. Ability to adhere to workplace rules. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 4-year college/university degree, or equivalent experience. 2 to 5 years manufacturing purchasing experience. Working towards Professional association certification (NAPM, APICS, etc.) Thorough knowledge of Gichneris product lines and policies (preferred). Working knowledge and application of standard concepts, practices and procedures (ex.: MRP, Safety stock, JIT). A relatively high level of analytic ability is required. Incumbents must collect and analyze data from diverse sources to solve problems that require a professional level of knowledge in purchasing. In-depth fact finding and analysis required as information is not easily available; requires some judgment in resolving problems within framework of standard practice. Duties are broadly defined. Work is not completely standardized. Assignments are usually received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow, permitting freedom to select methods and approaches from established policies/procedures and precedence. Overall work is reviewed primarily for adequacy in meeting objectives. Contact within the organization requires negotiation with other teams to gain acceptance of ideas in adversarial or potential conflict situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Machining and fabrication knowledge a plus.
