Job Description

David Weekley Homes is accepting applications for an upcoming Design Consultant opportunity at our New Home Design Center in Carrollton, Texas.

The Design Consultant will offer design guidance and product knowledge to our customers as they make the selections to customize their David Weekley Home. This person will also set expectations with home buyers regarding the selection process.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide enthusiastic and professional service for customer calls and visits to Design Center

  • Educate the buyer and set realistic expectations regarding the design selection process

  • Offer design guidance and product knowledge to both internal and external customers

  • Prepare decorator selection packages for quick move-in homes

  • Assist designers/buyers with selections to customize their home and pricing out options

  • Enter customer information/selections into computer system

  • Meet with vendors to review new product offerings

  • Maintain design center sampling, signage and inventory

  • Coordinate with construction manager to confirm correct features, options and upgrades

  • Various tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, preparing reports, filing, organizing, and interacting with internal and external customers

    Ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Prior design-related sales and/or design experience with a production homebuilder preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design preferred

  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint & Microsoft Word

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt

  • Great listening skills and creative problem solving with the ability to find the root cause, as well as a solution

  • Ability to deal with conflict as well as set and re-set expectations

  • Must be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and self-discipline

  • High level of integrity

  • Organized with solid time management skills and ability to multitask
