Actalent Remote Pharmacy Technician in Dallas, Texas

Actalent is Hiring Pharmacy Technicians for REMOTE Position!

As a Pharmacy Technician in the Appeals department, you will primarily handle cases involving denied Prior Authorizations for Medicare and Medicaid patients. Your main responsibilities include reviewing cases, reaching out for necessary additional information, and preparing cases for Pharmacists who will make the final determination on whether to uphold or overturn the denial. This role involves making about 60 outbound calls per shift to elderly members, addressing their concerns about denied medication, predominantly injectables administered at a doctor's office. You will be expected to work independently in a remote setting, ensuring a distraction-free, HIPAA-compliant environment.

Must Have:

  • 5 months+ of Pharmacy Technician experience

  • State License or National Certification- PTCB/NHA

  • Customer service

  • Computer skills

  • Ability to work remotely

Pay: $19/hour + Medical Benefits and Equipment's provided

Description:

  • Track and triage coverage determination requests submitted from providers and determine if a pharmacist review is required

  • Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers

  • Approve coverage determination requests based on defined criteria

  • Enter and document coverage determination request decision into the PBM system and notify providers and/or members

  • Respond to client inquiries regarding authorization approvals and PBM on-line applications

  • Refer coverage determination requests for specialty drugs to delegated vendor or client for processing

  • Contact providers for additional information to facilitate coverage determination reviews

  • Notify physicians, providers and members of coverage determination request decisions

Position Purpose: Track and triage all coverage determination requests for prior authorizations and Medicare Part D recipients

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of retail, hospital or mail order pharmacy experience.

License/Certification: Current states Pharmacy Technician license and National Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT).
