Amazon Principal Finance Manager, Amazon Intermodal Finance in Dallas, Texas

Amazon is growing its multimodal capabilities through expanding its Amazon Intermodal (AZIM) mode in Middle-Mile network. AZIM is building systems and capabilities to ensure that we deliver our customers’ freight, no matter how large or small, as quickly, accurately, and cost effectively as possible. To support AZIM meet its goal, ATS Tech Finance is looking for an experienced Principal Finance to provide finance thought leadership to the leaders across product and tech, sales, and operations leaders. This role requires a self-starter with strong analytics, business acumen, keen attention to detail and a track record of influencing senior business leaders to drive the organization to the right result. This role has regular interaction with multiple teams across Amazon Transportation network and requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to think both strategically and tactically, analyze quantitatively and problem-solve. The successful candidate will have operated in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment and will be able to prioritize multiple projects. Prior studio entertainment experience is required.

If you like taking a larger scope identifying the most cost effective and safest way to deliver to our customer you will enjoy transportation. This entire system has to move like a symphony and it has to be orchestrated. It is an incredible math problem that we have to solve; we have to put statistics and financial models behind it. In this role you will have a high level of visibility and partner with cross functional teams. We help others understand finance and are the trusted business advisors to our business teams.

We are looking for a leader who exhibits excellent attention to detail and is comfortable with ambiguity. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. Regular collaboration with executives and various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority projects to maximize results for key stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as the Finance Leader for Amazon Intermodal business

  • Provide strategic guidance and decision support in this rapidly evolving space.

  • Drive quarterly guidance and annual reviews and develop OP1/3YF and OP2 plans, ensuring alignment with leadership’s financial goals.

  • Influence cross-functionally to make sound business decisions, analyze opportunities, identify issues, and solve challenges

  • Work closely with Intermodal leadership to establish financial and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and guardrails based on key input drivers. Foster collaboration with technology and business leaders in developing roadmap that aligns with senior leadership goals and drives sustainable growth.

  • Lead E2E CAPEX planning for both AZIM and IM-External business through building of ROI, FCF, PBP, and IRR models and supporting the CAR approval. This includes integration of our processes with Central CAPEX Planning team and developing a working model including reviews with senior leaders.

  • Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively and improves, scales, or simplify finance tools across teams and organizations.

  • Communicate key inputs and findings in a crisp manner to drive decision-making

  • Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams and partner finance teams to ensure seamless integration of the Intermodal business unit plan into the overall Worldwide Operations and Amazon Inbound Transportation’s financial plans. Foster strong communication and coordination to drive alignment across the organization.

  • Have backbone, disagree and commit to foster constructive dialogues, harmonize conflicting views, resolve issues, and drive decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 10+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 8+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (or Equivalent) or MBA or Master’s degree or CFA and 3+ years of finance experience

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Demonstrable Finance experience, with ability to partner with senior leadership, and produce analyses that aids strategic decision-making

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel experience working with large-scale data mining, and using reporting tools (i.e. Excel, ETL, SQL, Tableau)

  • 5+ Experience in building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving

  • Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset and a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
