The Principal Big Data Software Engineer is responsible for the development of high performance, distributed computing tasks using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL, text mining and other distributed environment technologies.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Uses Big Data programming languages and technology, writes code, completes programming and documentation, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in distributed, large scale analytics and visualization solutions.
Interacts with data scientists and industry experts to understand how data needs to be converted, loaded and presented.
Works in a highly agile environment.
Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, Math or Scientific Computer preferred
Requires 8-10 years of related experience
Software engineering & SDLC skills (Full Stack Development and Microservices)
Python Developer REST backend API Experience (Flask & FastAPI, Django)
SQL , Database, Analytics
Snowflake
Databricks, ETL & Data engineering
MongoDB (Nice to have)
Gen AI Knowledge (Nanodegree on Gen AI Applications or similar, Embeddings and Vector Database Knowledge, Azure AI Search & RAG)
General Azure Knowledge (ADLSGen2, AKS /Docker, Redis)
Requires Daily Office Presence at the listed location. No relocation assistance is provided.
Desired Skillsets:
Experience working with backend database servers like Postgres, Oracle DB, MySQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, CosmosDB, Redis
Expertise in Data wrangling tasks such as Data Engineering & ETL processing
Experience with Unit, integration, QA, and end-to-end testing of application code.
Comfortable working in Linux environment and able to handle complex bash/scripting jobs as required. Familiarity with common System Administration tasks is preferable.
Familiarity with general software engineering skills & design patterns related to topics like multi-threading, efficient I/O, connection pooling, caching, building apps for high volume & low latency requirements.

Our Principal Big Data Software Engineering, earns between $158,200.00-$237,400.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
