Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform experienced Industrial Plummer tasks for Scottish Rite for Children
Accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision, and make appropriate decisions in the absence of direct leadership
Work effectively in a team as well as individually as dictated by the situation and management
Responsible for completion to standard of assigned tasks
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, control, life safety, and HVAC equipment as part of a team
Responsible for request of supplies, parts, and equipment required to accomplish assigned tasks
Maintain accountability and fiscal responsibility for assigned parts, equipment, and supplies
Perform normal and emergency operation of all engineering and life safety systems of the hospital
Serve as subject matter expert, and provide leadership in the area of plumbing and piping systems
Ensure that work sites are left clean, supplies and equipment are maintained, and all assigned assets are accounted for per Engineering Department policy directives
Make periodic inspections, noting general condition and keeping Engineering management informed of the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital in safe, well-maintained condition
Document repair and maintenance records as per Engineering Department policy and directives
Be prepared to assume responsibilities for the working lead should the need arise
Appropriately interpret and follow hospital policies and safety regulations
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work
Analyze and resolve work problems
As assigned, develop Preventative Maintenance and Operational Procedures commensurate with the Scottish Rite Policies and Procedures, manufacturer’s recommendations, safety considerations, and good engineering practices
Required Skills/Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate or higher degree in an engineering or project management discipline preferred
Journeyman or higher plumbing license required
Master Plumber license preferred
ASSE 6010/6020 Medical Gas Installer/Inspector certification preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in the plumbing trade required
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial/hospital plumbing work preferred
Emergency Generator operation experience preferred
Boiler plant operation experience preferred
Steam piping and steam heating experience preferred
Formal leadership training preferred
Direct leadership experience preferred
Score appropriately high on a written plumbing test administered by the Engineering Department
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Able to learn and utilize a Windows-based Computerized Maintenance Management System
