Position: Paralegal, Litigation and Labor & Employment
Job Description:
Forward Air is seeking a Paralegal, Litigation and Labor & Employment to join our team. This position will be an integral part of our Legal Department, working closely with our lawyers and other paralegals, as well as our internal business clients, providing various types of litigation support. You will assist with litigation management, including document preservation, docket control, and discovery processes. You will participate in projects to improve our workflow and processes. You will work independently on assigned matters but will also collaborate with our legal team.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Provide litigation support, including intake of service of process, generation of document preservation notices, and assistance with discovery requests
Assist in the management of claims and litigation, including employment disputes (e.g. wage and hour, discrimination, disability claims), personal injury defense, contract/business litigation, cargo claims and collection matters
Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible
Review and summarize documents, including employment agreements, handbooks, and policies
Coordinate with outside counsel and internal departments to ensure effective case management
Support the preparation and review of legal documents, including demand letters, declarations, pleadings, and motions
Track and manage deadlines for all litigation-related tasks, including filings and court dates
Assist with internal investigations and audits on matters relating to claims and litigation
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal business clients and external partners
Maintain open communication with the Legal team and business leadership to keep them advised of potential issues or risks regarding claims and litigation matters
Participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Department
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to labor and employment law compliance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to learn and use workflow tools
Experience providing litigation support for business clients, preferably with experience in labor and employment law
Excellent track record in previous client service engagement
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
