Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), Dairy Brands has an opening for a Director of Engineering-Blowmolding (Remote) position.
Is accountable for directing engineering activities across multiple plants to meet short- and long-range objectives related to blowmolding operations and bottle packaging design. Partners with operations, finance, quality control, purchasing, safety, environmental, and other departments in order to coordinate all phases of engineering and provide optimum services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs planning, design, procurement, installation, start-up and training for all capital projects related to blowmolding operations across DFA’s network of fluid bottling facilities.
Ensures all project standards and guidelines established by DFA Dairy Brands are applied and adhered to.
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert and technical support resource for all blowmolding operations to help resolve issues, optimize blowmold performance, identify gaps in performance and bottle quality, minimize product shrink and resin/scrap waste, ensure good maintenance practices are being followed, and propose opportunities for improvement.
Coordinates resources, both internal and external, to provide training and support for blowmolding supervisors, operators, and maintenance.
Identifies, implements and shares best practices throughout DFA Dairy Brands.
Establishes and keeps current a robust Preventive Maintenance program for all blowmolding and bottle handling assets utilizing an enterprise CMMS system and works with plant teams to ensure they are executed timely and properly
Ensures safety and regulatory compliance is maintained and documented.
Manages and updates equipment database, including mold inventories
Drives productivity improvements to attain the lowest landed cost.
Works cross-functionally with plant management and regional management teams to develop priorities to ensure direct alignment with objectives.
Encourages positive cross-functional communication between production and engineering teams.
Aligns with and supports other corporate staff functions in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term plans to meet business objectives.
Drives consistency and standardization throughout Supply Chain.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
10+ years’ experience in Engineering in HDPE extrusion blowmolding manufacturing operations. Strong preference for experience with dairy or similar beverage bottle manufacturing.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Auto Cad
Preferred PLC, process control, HMI/MMI trouble-shooting and programming skills
Understanding of refrigeration systems, plant utility systems, food manufacturing processing systems, and packaging/material handling systems
Thorough understanding and proven track record with the use of project management practices and guidelines
Ability to handle multiple and complex projects/initiatives
Possess excellent analytical problem solving and trouble-shooting abilities
