WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Director/Head of Technology Regulatory Program Office (RPO) operates within the first line of defense and is directly accountable in the oversight and governance of business line responses to regulatory, audit and 2LOD requests.

The Director is accountable for response to regulatory, audit and 2LOD requests within the Technology Team. This person will have oversight of Santander Consumer RPO for Technology as well as a reporting line into the Santander Holding RPO Technology team. The Director must have a good understanding of risk framework, lines of defense responsibilities, SOX, GLBA, and NY DFS awareness. The Director will help lead the Technology response to activities like SOC1 and TPRM customer evaluations. This individual should have 3 – 5 years minimum of People Management and should be comfortable working in a matrixed organization.

The Director should be comfortable presenting to senior leadership and have a good sense of when to escalate over and up. In addition to the RPO responsibilities, this individual will have some additional People Management oversight of non-RPO functions within the risk organization as well as some site responsibilities as a Senior Leader. Building strong relationships outside of Technology is a key success factor for this role. This role will report into the Senior Director, Head of Technology GRC as well as a reporting line into the Santander Holding Regulatory Program Director.

Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities may include quantitative analysis, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Ensures transparency of business results, finance and processes. Typically organizes a reporting system and tracks goals accomplishment, collect and process data and provides managers with all necessary company management data and information.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field.

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field. (Pref)

Work Experience:

  • Risk Management, 12-15 years relevant experience

  • 3-5 years previous Management experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating in a regulated entity

  • Ability to understand complex technical systems and the business processes they support; synthesize the corresponding risks and controls and recommend adjustments.

  • Ability to drive results and meet deadlines to reduce risks

  • Excellent communication skills, including an ability to influence stakeholders across the organization, to speak effectively in small and large-group settings, and to write clearly in internal memos, presentations and e-mails

  • Ability to manage complexity, including in troubleshooting problems or in developing process or other solutions

  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to interpret rules and regulation to influence business decision-making. Analyze highly complex business issue by incorporating company and industry knowledge and sound analytical processes

  • Strong ability to lead, partner, and influence across all leadership levels

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, either through direct leadership or coaching/mentoring role

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
