Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly organized, data-driven, service-focused, and results-oriented Director of Employee Benefits to join our dynamic HR leadership team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Total Rewards, this key leadership position is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the company’s health & welfare, absence management, and retirement benefits programs. The ideal candidate will bring a customer-centric mindset, with experience in Workday HCM and a strong focus on delivering exceptional service, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring that benefits programs align with the company's business goals. This role will play a vital part in enhancing employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall well-being by ensuring that our benefits offerings meet employee needs while remaining cost-effective and competitive in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, welfare, and retirement benefits programs, ensuring they are strategically aligned with the company's goals and meet the evolving needs of employees.
Foster a customer-centric approach in all benefits programs, working closely with HR business partners, finance, and other internal teams to ensure that benefits offerings are competitive, efficient, and focused on delivering exceptional value to employees.
Drive the strategy for health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, life, disability, voluntary plans, employee assistance programs, and absence management, with an emphasis on providing comprehensive and accessible solutions to employees.
Leverage data-driven insights and performance evaluations to drive continuous improvement in benefits programs, using systems like Workday HCM to ensure accurate and seamless benefits administration that enhances the employee experience.
Oversee the integration of employee benefits data into Workday HCM, ensuring data accuracy, system efficiency, and effective communication between benefits programs and HR systems.
Work closely with the Finance team and other stakeholders to ensure accurate data collection, reporting, compliance, and seamless coordination of benefits audits, renewals, and program evaluations.
Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in benefits management, and use that knowledge to recommend innovative and employee-centric solutions that enhance the employee experience.
Ensure compliance with key regulations such as ACA, ERISA, DOL, and IRS by managing plan documentation, filings, and responses to legal requirements, always maintaining a focus on service delivery and employee support.
Develop and execute training and communication strategies to help employees and leadership fully understand and engage with the company’s benefits offerings, ensuring clarity and easy access to information.
Build and manage strong relationships with external vendors, ensuring high service standards, prompt issue resolution, and the delivery of new benefits offerings that meet employee needs.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing benefits team, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service and are equipped to support organizational objectives and enhance the employee experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field; Master’s in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefits (CEBS) certification preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in benefits plan design, administration, and strategy, with a focus on delivering exceptional service and supporting employees.
Experience with Workday HCM or similar systems for benefits administration preferred.
Strong business acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders and drive results while maintaining a focus on the employee experience and service delivery.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, collaborate effectively at all levels, and build strong relationships across departments.
Expertise in benefits compliance and regulatory requirements, with a proven ability to manage complex plans and ensure adherence to regulations.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, healthcare spend, and recommend cost-effective strategies that optimize the use of resources while delivering value to employees.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools.
