Medtronic is looking for a Communications Generalist to join the Surgical Innovations (SI) Communications team. In this role, you will create and implement integrated communication strategies that advance and protect our business.
This individual contributor role calls for a curious, resourceful, and versatile team player with a positive attitude and passion for storytelling. Candidates must be able to work both independently and cultivate strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Daily responsibilities may include information sourcing/discovery, planning, writing, designing, producing, and deploying multimedia content for a variety of audiences. Efficiently managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is key to our collective success.

This role reports directly to the Sr. Director, Communications for Surgical Innovations. It may be
based in Boulder, Colorado; North Haven, Connecticut; Mansfield, Massachusetts; or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Remote candidates may also be considered.

A Day in the Life
Collaborate with business partners across functions and geographies to inform internal and external communication strategies, content and tactics that advance, enhance and protect the SI operating unit in alignment with the Medtronic Mission and business strategy
Manage logistics and produce content for internal and external events, including global Town Hall meetings
Write leader messages, scripts and speeches, customer/patient stories, fact sheets, communications toolkits, and other materials
Produce multi-media communications assets for internal and external channels, including video and graphics
Apply journalistic skills to lead discovery and sourcing meetings with leaders, cross-functional partners, and communications team members, which will inform communication strategies and content
Develop thoughtful PR campaigns that credibly position and differentiate our business
Explore, implement, and drive adoption of strategic communication platforms
Initiate and maintain strategic relationships with media and KOLs
Develop processes and tools to effectively share news and information
Manage media monitoring for the team, using the Cision platform
Develop and deploy content using the Eloqua platform or other distribution channels
Create dashboards, score cards and reports to assess communications program performance against objectives
Support the launch, adoption and reinforcement of Medtronic verbal and visual brand guidelines
Represent SI by participating and collaborating with Medtronics center-led communications initiatives and teams
Route materials for approvals and distribution
Create POs and track expenses against budgets
Schedule meetings with leaders and communications team members
Bachelors Degree and 2+ years of progressive responsibility in the communications field, in a corporate or agency environment OR Advanced Degree
Nice to Have
Demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies and tactics with measurable outcomes, using multiple channels, including digital/social media
Experience writing and producing internal and external content, including press releases, social media posts, articles, and video
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across a variety of functions and with all levels of management and employees
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
Proven ability to work both independently and in team settings
Intermediate design / creative skills (e.g., PPT, asset development)
Experience with multi-channel communications deployment
Surgical/medical technology/medical device/healthcare industry experience
Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite, including Teams and Yammer
Experience with Cision media monitoring platform
