About The Internship:

The CBRE Accounting Internship accelerates your learning and development by providing you with a great foundation upon which to build your finance career in the commercial real estate industry. This 9-week summer intern program will introduce you to our company, our fast-paced industry and our best-in-class professionals. Program participants will receive real-world training and participate in networking and learning opportunities. This program provides the opportunity to work with one of our Accounting or Finance teams. Some of the potential accounting focused team opportunities are:

Controllership - Ensures the completeness and accuracy of the firm’s financial and regulatory reporting. Controllership uses an analytical demeanor and internal controls' focus for business strategy and decision making.

Compensation & Benefits – Supports the accounting and planning/budgeting of compensation plans (including bonus and stock compensation) and benefit plans (including medical-dental-life-disability, savings 401k plans, union employee benefits).

Provides forensic accounting/review of payroll related transactions (compensation, benefits, taxes, other).

Finance Processes – Establishes the governance around process standardization, compliance and innovation.

Financial Risk Management – Supports Business Segments and Corporate Functions for all internal control over financial reporting matters. The FRM team plays a significant role in the SOX program across the world.

Treasury – Monitors and leads global cash and debt across the enterprise in multiple currencies and banks. Teams are focused on driving automation and process standardization to build operational efficiencies, supervise risk and improve global cash position.

Tax – Improves the tax efficiency of CBRE's operations and optimizes the tax results of acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations while ensuring that tax filing and payment obligations are met, and tax activity is accurately reflected in financial reports.

The summer internship will begin in June 2025 and end in August 2025. Interns will be located in either Dallas, Texas or El Segundo, California. Please only apply if you can work in person in one of these locations during the 9-week summer program.

What You'll Do:

  • Participate in the financial close, month-end reporting, consolidation of financial results, SOX program planning procedures, attend control walkthroughs and perform testing.

  • Complete special projects to advance financial analysis and quality of reports to support management decisions.

  • Assist with internal financial reports and interpret financial data.

  • Improve documentation of existing accounting processes and find opportunities for operational improvement or automation.

  • Participate in cross functional groups to lead and communicate interdependencies where applicable.

What You'll Need:

  • The internship is designed for analytical candidates with a strong academic background, preferably in business or real estate. Applicants should be self-motivated, creative, and focused, and exhibit a shown interest in finance and/or the commercial real estate industry.

  • Current college junior or senior pursuing bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (major in business, accounting, economics, finance, data analytics field preferred).

  • Requires knowledge of basic financial terms, concepts, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Desire to work in a global company in a finance capacity.

  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).

  • Experience with Power BI, Cognos, Oracle, etc. a plus.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively present information to supervisors and finance management.

  • Ability to understand and articulate commercial insights.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; curious what the data depicts.

  • Shown written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.

  • Shown leadership experience.

California Residents: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training and experience. The minimum salary for the Intern position is $28.00 per hour and the maximum salary for the Intern position is $30.00 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
